Omaha is the only drawing in this catalog whose centrepiece is a pedestrian bridge, and it takes up more of the picture than any building does. The city stands back on both banks and lets it have the space.
What is in the drawing
The left begins low on a block with a scalloped roofline and a small gabled shape beside it. Two slim towers rise behind, each finished with a rounded cap on a short collar, and a squat building with a pointed gable sits between their feet. Then the bridge: two A-frame pylons standing on the base line with their cables drawn as straight rays fanning down to a deck that runs the full width between them, and a second deck line below it. On the far side the ground rises again through a tower scored with a tight zigzag, a taller one under a stepped crown, and a broad slab whose top corner is cut clean away.
Mug or canvas
This is a wide one at 2.383 to 1, well past the mug band, so it wraps a mug completely and the two ends meet out of sight. Coverage is a light 0.069, because the bridge is mostly open air between thin cables. Light and wide is the combination that reads well small, so the mug holds up here better than it does for the dense drawings, and the 36 by 24 canvas is the one that turns those cables into separate lines rather than a shaded triangle.
