Denver is drawn with more gaps in it than most of the cities here. The buildings stand apart rather than in a wall, and the one horizontal shape at the center is what holds the two halves together.
What is in the drawing
A tower with a curved hood over its top opens the left, and beside it a second carries a flat cap, a slim mast and a long looping figure worked into its face. Then the line lies down completely, running out into a wide shallow arch with a wavy edge following its curve, set on a flat deck that reaches most of the way across the lower half of the picture. From the far end of it the towers start again: a tall one with a needle on top, another with an angled crown, a third notched into three prongs. Past a gap the capitol appears, a ribbed dome and lantern above a low colonnaded front with a wing to each side, and a slender banded spire closes the drawing at the right edge.
Mug or canvas
The composition is unusually horizontal for a drawing this compact. The arch and its deck run along the whole base while the towers stand well separated above, so there is real empty space inside the picture rather than only around it. A mug holds it comfortably at 1.94 to 1, a little inside the printable band. On a canvas the gaps are what you gain: the buildings stop reading as a group and start standing on their own.
