Nottingham ends in a repeat. The four gables at the right are drawn to the same pattern one after another, which is unusual in a range where a skyline is normally a set of buildings that share nothing, and they give that end a rhythm the rest of the line does not have.
What is in the drawing
A domed hall opens the left, a lantern and finial above the dome, a pediment on columns below it and an arcade cut along its base. Angular slabs rise past it at three heights. A gabled church follows with pinnacles at its shoulders. Long low blocks run across the center, one drawn over the other. More slabs step up beyond them. Four gabled buildings close the right in a row, each steeply pointed, each with arched openings drawn into its face.
Mug or canvas
Depth and width come near balance at 2.217, just outside the 2.14 the mug prints to, so very little is lost from either. Ink of 0.112 gathers in the colonnade and the four gabled fronts, which want 30 by 20 before their arches read separately.
